was established by two BC adventure racers who wanted to provide short and fun races to encourage more participation in the sport.

Co-Founders

EILEEN BISTRISKY, CSEP owns and runs Effective Event Management, a multi award-winning firm in Vancouver. They help clients achieve their objectives through the development and execution of customized, meticulously planned special events and marketing programs. One of their specialties is staging sporting events, including past runs, duathlons, and an ITU Triathlon World Cup. Eileen is Past President of the Vancouver Chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES), Past Western Regional VP of ISES International, has served on numerous other boards, and speaks at conferences and meetings world-wide.

Eileen has actively participated in races over the years, including the 1990 Seattle Marathon and the 1992 Penticton Ironman. She also served on the executive of the B.C. Triathlon Association, and as Director of Events for the Atomic Racing Club, a road cycling club. Her current passion is for adventure racing and mountaineering. Her recent races include various Raid the North, Sea2Summit, Storm the Shore, Momar, and Yeti events.


DEREK OELMANN has a background as a business and technology consultant specializing in Customer Relationship Management, Technology Planning and Project Management.

Derek enjoys a wide variety of athletic activities including Adventure Racing, Triathlons, Trail Running, Snowshoeing and Paddling. He is looking forward to competing in numerous races this year including Mind Over Mountain (MOMAR), the Yeti Snowshoe Series and off-road triathlons.

Derek lives in Victoria and is currently focusing on several new ventures – organizing Adventure Races (SAFARI), working on web design projects and promoting volunteering by young professionals (GuavaClub Victoria www.guavaclub.com).
